FAQ Wedding Questions

December 22, 2015 By Barbara Densmore Leave a Comment

Looking for answers about the legalities of getting married? Check out some of the more specific questions I have been asked.

Why should we use someone like you?

You know how you always have to sit through all those ads before the movie begins?  Well, that’s how many couples see their wedding ceremony. But in reality, the ceremony is the feature event…the reason for your whole day…people are coming to get you married. Wouldn’t it be cool if that moment…one of the most personal moments in your life…could be totally you….from first words to the epic kiss?  What if it set the tone for the entire day?

Perhaps you want to really experience it.  And remember it.  And have the people you love right there with you in this glorious moment, all well aware just what an awesome moment it is.

If that’s what you are looking for, then, please spend some time checking me out.

How do you give us a personal ceremony? You don’t even know us!

By the time your wedding day arrives, I will know you pretty well. We use a dynamic hands-on process and work together to create a ceremony that’s you, you, you.

How long do your ceremonies take?

Trust me on this: a dry ceremony lasting 5 minutes can feel like forever while an engaging ceremony lasting 30+ minutes can slip by in a heartbeat (without people looking at their iPhones..:).

How much do you charge?  Why don’t you have your fees on this site?

If you wander around my site a bit, you may figure out that all my work is custom and personal.  I don’t do “an XXX minute ceremony has YYY words and costs ZZZ.”  or “choose from these templates.”  The ceremonies I create are as different as the couples I work with.  And when we meet (zoom, whatsapp, whereby, skype, facetime, google hangout, coffee/tea, and yes, I even do the telephone), we’ll be able to figure out a) if we’re a fit  b) what you might want (even if you don’t know at the start)  and then c) I can normally figure out a few options for you.   More about how we work.

How much space do you have?

The further ahead you can book, the better! Because I spend a lot of time on each ceremony, the number of ceremonies I can write/perform annually is…well…limited.  Best to contact me to check for availability. I’ll get back to you promptly.

Do you do ceremonies in Tofino and Ucluelet?

Yes, I do! I do have to add on a modest travel charge. And if you want a rehearsal, I’ll need to stay overnite. But yes, let’s talk.

Do you travel elsewhere to perform ceremonies?

Yes I do! I have a valid passport and a nice set of luggage to prove it…!

Should we have a rehearsal?

Rehearsals have become assumed necessities in the bridal world. In some cases they are…in others, IMHO, you could spend your money more wisely elsewhere. Whether you actually need one or not….well, click here to read more.

What if we run late?  Then what happens?

That’s not a big deal for me.  I usually only do a single ceremony in a day.  That gives me plenty of time in advance…I often arrive an hour before, since I frequently act like the ceremony coach/quarterback, making sure all the final details are together.  I normally don’t have to run off to my next ceremony, so we have the luxury of a few minutes of extra time to make sure everything is done well.
