Metaphysics is perhaps a forerunner to the “Science and Spirituality” or “non-duality” modes that are becoming prevalent today. While it was initially developed as a rational philosophy, in some places, the term has become synonymous with more “out there” activities, and especially so on Vancouver Island, which is apparently on one of the earth’s major energetic meridians.
In reality, there are many religious groups and individuals that share the proponents of metaphysical thinking in different formats, believing in:
- the effects of positive thinking, creative visualization and personal power.
- the sense that God or Infinite Intelligence is supreme, universal, and dwells within each one of us.
- That we are all spiritual beings, and our highest purpose is to love one another unconditionally… and through our interactions with others, we have the opportunity to teach and heal ourselves and our worlds.
- That our reality is seeded by our mind, and that our mental states carry will manifest out thoughts to produce our experience in daily life. That body follows mind, and ‘right thinking’ has a healing effect.
Sound like a fit for you? Our community…the New Thought Community of Vancouver Island…is made up of some pretty lively and mindful thinkers. And our get-togethers reflect those principles, including:
Sunday Spiritual
Come into the forest and get in touch with yourself. Sunday morning walks. We begin each week by learning one wee tool for bringing yourself into presence. Then we practise it on a walk in the wonders of nature. It will ground you, let the past week go, and rejuvenate you for what’s coming up.
Enneagram Evenings
Both an ancient and modern spiritual development tool, we cover a variety of topics based on your 3 centres: head, heart, body. The group decides the course, and we tap into a variety of video and audio pieces, stopping to assimilate the learning.
Spiritual Salons
A thoughtful evening of discussion with next month’s theme generated by the group at this month’s get-together. Topics over the past year have included mindfulness, gratitude, modern grieving, holding space for others, the mind/body/spirit path to wellness.
We use a facebook page for most ongoing community planning and conversation.
Come and join us.
