New Motherhood

Kate MB

“I believe that these circles of women around us weave invisible nets of love that carry us when we’re weak and sing with us when we’re strong.” Sark, Succulent Wild Woman

Life naturally shows itself through cycles. We, as women, all experience these cycles, yet our experience is truly our own. Yet so many transitions go unobserved and undiscussed. Today, our diverse culture shares no common rituals that serve to carry us through our pivotal life passages.

Most transitional ceremonies aren’t big fancy public affairs. In fact, they are often smaller sojourns with carefully-chosen guests: women who are honoured to be part of your “inner circle”, women who you want to keep in your life for a long, long time.

Mother blessings

Giving birth takes you away in a different way. It’s the opening of a lifelong commitment to your next generation. For many women, the emotions surrounding birth are often lost in the logistical details of preparation. Yet, we know that crossing the threshold into motherhood is a physical, logistical, and emotional journey. And that a good transition contains a solid balance of all three.

A mother blessing provides a circle where you can be welcomed into motherhood. Gather wisdom from those who’ve traveled the path before. Honour your feelings. Gather more peace and courage. Prepare for the act of giving birth and be reminded that you are loved and supported by your friends and family every step of the way.

Real Ceremonies:

Tara’s Mother Blessing.

“I’m not a touchy/feely person but it was within my comfort zone. I found the ceremony emotionally moving, strengthening and inspiring.”  Tara’s aunt Maureen

Testimonials

We have had so much positive feedback regarding it being the best wedding ever!  The ceremony was even more memorable and meaningful than I could have imagined! I don’t think there was a dry eye there!
T&D, mature couple with kids and awesome stories
We didn’t know what we were looking for or exactly how we wanted our ceremony to be but we knew we wanted…a ceremony that resonated with us, was “us”. We wanted our ceremony to be the “heart” of our wedding, not something to just “get over with” as we have heard others say.
Lisa and Eddie, and it was
Throughout the journey of co-creating, Barbara deeply listened, guided, and supported us to make meaningful creative choices that honoured ourselves, invited guests/witnesses, and our new home.
J&J's House Blessing
“I am SO very happy that I did the ceremony. I feel like my work with you cauterized what would have otherwise been an open wound. I can’t thank you enough…”
A's Divorce Ceremony
It was a perfect balance of poignant, comical and thought-provoking. Maggie
G's Memorial Tree Planting
We are unique in our own way and nothing we do is cookie cutter. We are looking for an officiant who can do things a little differently. We pride ourselves on putting in the effort that others won’t.
Shereen and Matt, high tech, high standards
“All 90 guests shed tears of laughter and joy, and walked away knowing and loving us as a couple that much more. We have been receiving nothing but extremely positive comments – stating it was the best wedding ceremony ever attended.”
Jeff married Ashley in one of the most jubilant ceremonies ever, with a surprise blessing from their dog Lua
So that was without a doubt the best day of my life, and I can’t tell you how many people have commented on how great the ceremony was. Many folks told us it was the best wedding they had ever been to! The ceremony was so us, and how we look at the world.
we managed to fit most of their passions into Eli and Megan’s very organic ceremony…no hand sanitizer..
Our day was more than we could have asked for because of Barbara – the ceremony was the perfect mix of funny, touching, meaningful and memorable.
Wedding Photographer J
This was the kind of ceremony that Dad would have loved. He would have loved to be here. It was a perfect fit for him. Jan
