Illness

“Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.” Oprah Winfrey

When a loved one is diagnosed with a major illness, we often feel at a loss initially about what to do. You may ask how you can support them, but sometimes they don’t even know what might be helpful.

A healing circle can be empowering for everyone. It can provide you with a sense of helpfulness and your loved one with support. Through storytelling, your loved one can feel cared for in a safe way.

Through the process, your friend or family member may discover what they truly want, and will be reminded that s/he is not alone. That there is a network surrounding her, a loving community that allows the hard work of illness to be shared.

In other cases, a major illness may have been beaten. And a party is not enough to recognize the monumental milestone. A ceremony can let go of what is past, help express heartfelt gratitude, and mark the entry into greater health. Then, you party. ..:)
